Caught on Tape
We live in a digital world. Cameras are everywhere. Cell phones, security cameras, handi-cams and telephoto lenses are all the norm today. For Police this is a great assistance, yet a perplexing dilemma. We have a photo of a person committing a crime or a person who is suspected of committing a crime, but we do not know who that person is. Often times, the quality of the photo or video is poor and even though we may know the person, we may not readily identify them due to the image quality.
It is the inability to identify these people that spawns Caught on Tape (COT). We hope that publishing photos of these suspects will promote the community to look at these photos and see if the people in the images are known to them.
What do I do if I can identify somebody in these photos?
If you recognize any of the people in these photos, make note of the case number associated with the photos. Then, you can either call
the Columbus Police Department at (402) 564-3201 or Platte County Area Crimestoppers at (402) 563-4000. Provide the person who answers the
call with information regarding the case number of the photos and the identity of the person who you believe is in the photograph. You do
not have to leave your name and can remain anonymous. Crimestoppers callers may be eligible for a cash reward up to $1,000 for information
that leads to the arrest of criminals.
