Mission Statement

The Columbus Police Department exists to serve all people within the City of Columbus with respect, fairness, and sensitivity. We are committed to the prevention of crime and the protection of life and property; the preservation of peace, order, and safety; the enforcement of laws and ordinances, and the safeguarding of constitutional guarantees. With community service and problem-solving as our foundation, we are driven by goals to enhance the quality of life, conduct thorough investigations, seek collaborative solutions and foster a sense of security in our community and its individuals. We nurture public trust by holding ourselves to the highest standards of performance and ethics.

Policing Values

The Columbus Police Department believes that the protection of life and property is our highest priority. We will respect and protect the rights and dignity of all persons and conduct all citizen contacts with courtesy and compassion.

We will strive for excellence in our delivery of law enforcement services and will utilize training technology and innovation to achieve that goal.
